How to Change the Battery on a 2000 - 2007 Ford Focus


2000 - 2007 Ford Focus Battery Removal Guide

Tools Needed :
  • Ratchet
  • 10mm socket

Lift the hood and locate the battery


 Loosen the nut at the front of the battery
until you can pull the rod out toward the front of the car.
DO NOT LOOSEN TOTALLY OFF.


 Pull the rod out and lift up on the plastic strap going accross the top of the battery.
Pull it strait out  from this point.

Pull the plastic cover off



 loosen the battery turminals
DO NOT UNSCREW TOTALY OFF




 Now Grab the battery and pull it out



Slid the new battery in


Reverse the steps above to replace the battery.

When you get back in the car your clock will probably be off since you replaced the battery

O' Reilly
  NAPA
Buy the battery from them and they will put it in for you.


This is a guide in case you brake down in a shopping center parking lot
and dont have anyone to call and can not drive to a parts store.

  1. Thank you. Thanks to this it took me a total of 5 minutes to change the battery in my 2007 Ford Focus. I sprayed the terminals with WD-40 the night before. I replaced the original battery. It lasted 7 years. Not bad. Thanks!

  2. I loosened battery clamp as described. Clamp would turn but would not come off. Something else must be in the way. Both pos and neg are that way.
